<\/em><\/p>\nPhotos: Anna Dantes<\/em><\/p>\n Delcida Maxakali is a master of songs, stories, and the art of emba\u00faba, being one of the main elders of the Village-School-Forest. Born in one of the oldest villages of the Maxakali Indigenous Land, in Pradinho, Delcida keeps in her memory the history of her ancestors' displacements through the territory, preserved in her songs and tales. For years, she lived in the Aldeia Verde reserve, facing enormous difficulties in accessing water. Despite her advanced age, she was one of the main leaders to decide to leave the territory in July 2020. Today, she\u00b4s a great supporter of the Living School in the Village-School-Forest, a space for the preservation of cultural heritage and environmental conservation of the Maxakali territory.<\/p>\n Photos: Rodrigo Duarte<\/em><\/p>\n It was very powerful and meaningful for the Maxakali Living School group to feel the living forest, in the songs of the birds, in the crystal-clear water, in the many medicines found along the way, and in the collected emba\u00faba fibers. The meeting brought together young people from the Living School Guarani of Tekoa Rio Silveira and a Guarani family from Pia\u00e7aguera,\u00a0Suri Jera, Samira Mindua, Josiane Par\u00e1, and Simone Jaxuka,\u00a0<\/b>14 representatives from Living School Maxakali, coordinated by\u00a0Sueli\u00a0<\/b>and\u00a0Isael Maxakali,\u00a0<\/b>an artist from the Witoto people\u00a0Aimema Uai<\/b>, from Colombia,\u00a0Freg Stokes<\/b>,\u00a0escritor, performer e cart\u00f3grafo de Melbourne, da Austr\u00e1lia,\u00a0Brisa Flow<\/b>, singer, composer, hip hop culture MC, and her partner\u00a0Ian Wapixana<\/b>, artist who, along with\u00a0Caio Tup\u00e3,\u00a0<\/b>captured sounds during the meeting. We also had the presence of\u00a0Anita Ekman,\u00a0<\/b>independent curator and artist,\u00a0Sandra Benites,<\/b>\u00a0educator, curator, and representative of Funarte,\u00a0Anna Dantes,\u00a0<\/b>editor, coordinator, and creator of Selvagem cycle of studies about life,\u00a0Ver\u00f4nica Pinheiro,\u00a0<\/b>educadora e coordenadora do grupo Aprendizagens do Selvagem\u00a0e de\u00a0Alice Faria,\u00a0<\/b>translator and coordinator of the Translations of the Selvagem group.\u00a0D\u00e9bora<\/strong>,\u00a0Renata<\/strong>,\u00a0Tajiana<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Ronia<\/strong>, who participated through Goethe Institute.\u00a0Rodrigo Duarte,\u00a0<\/b>visual artist, captured images and sounds to collaboratively compose creative material from the residency,\u00a0Anai Vera,\u00a0<\/b>anthropologist, helped organize the meeting, and\u00a0Ana Estrela,\u00a0<\/b>anthropologist, represented the Museum of Indigenous Cultures.<\/p>\n Photos: Alice Faria and Rodrigo Duarte<\/em><\/p>\n Through exchanges, we were able to weave bridges between many worlds through art and the ancestral thinking of the peoples who gathered to transmit messages of regeneration and expansion of consciousness. The exchange between the Guarani and Maxakali people enabled a dive into the Nhe\u2019\u00ebry forest, Mata Atl\u00e2ntica [Atlantic Forest], in search of emba\u00faba, a native plant in our forest to extract its fiber and produce arts that heal and enchant. Through songs, the Maxakali women dialogue with the ants and the spirit of the emba\u00faba to ask for permission for its harvest. Together with the artists present, we produced a large collective canvas featuring forest beings. Some map canvases were also created, tracing the territories where the represented peoples live. The children, guided by Veronica's brilliance, worked with clay to create shapes, painted canvases with natural paints depicting animated narratives, and made drawings with leaves using the light of the Sun.<\/p>\n Photo: Carlos Pap\u00e1<\/em><\/p>\n Photos: Rodrigo Duarte e Anna Dantes<\/em><\/p>\n On the full moon of December 14, we held a spiritual ceremony to celebrate the union of the forest peoples and to strengthen the healing processes of the body and the earth through dialogue with the spirit of the plant.<\/p>\n Foto: Rodrigo Duarte<\/em><\/p>\n Each teaching, each story told by the shamans, each song sung by the youth, children, and elders formed a bond of strength and transformation. Com cinco resid\u00eancias na Am\u00e9rica do Sul e na Europa, a iniciativa do Goethe-Institut Rio de Janeiro centraliza territ\u00f3rios tradicionais, mapeia a hist\u00f3ria ambiental das florestas e evidencia conex\u00f5es cient\u00edficas e cosmol\u00f3gicas. Esse projeto tem como ponto de partida iniciativas existentes em territ\u00f3rios ind\u00edgenas e tradicionais que trabalham para regenerar as rela\u00e7\u00f5es entre muitas esp\u00e9cies, humanas e n\u00e3o humanas, com base nos modos de vida dos povos da floresta.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n The residency at Aldeia Rio Silveira, created by Cris Taku\u00e1 and Carlos Pap\u00e1, brings together Indigenous leaders from various territories around the construction of the prayer house, as well as the plant laboratory and the actions of the Guarani Living School.
