{"id":10669,"date":"2026-03-04T14:59:30","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T17:59:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/selvagemciclo.org.br\/?p=10669"},"modified":"2026-04-06T13:56:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-06T16:56:15","slug":"selvagem-no-labic-amazonas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/selvagemciclo.org.br\/en\/selvagem-no-labic-amazonas\/","title":{"rendered":"SELVAGEM AT LABIC AMAZONAS"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\">SELVAGEM AT LABIC AMAZONAS<\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">4 March 2026<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Between <strong>4 and 8 February<\/strong>, no munic\u00edpio de S\u00e3o Gabriel da Cachoeira (AM), aconteceu mais uma edi\u00e7\u00e3o do <strong>LABIC Amazonas<\/strong>, um grande encontro com debates e forma\u00e7\u00f5es sobre cultura digital, comunica\u00e7\u00e3o, ancestralidade, tecnologias, arte, educa\u00e7\u00e3o e ci\u00eancias.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More than 30 projects and dozens of indigenous communicators and educators from the Upper Rio Negro region, as well as representatives from institutions and bodies such as the Ministry of Culture, came together for <strong>four days of workshops and a variety of talks<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Selvagem was represented at LABIC by <strong>Cristine Taku\u00e1<\/strong>, general coordinator of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/selvagemciclo.org.br\/en\/escolas-vivas\/\">Living Schools<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong>Francy Baniwa<\/strong>, coordinator of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/selvagemciclo.org.br\/en\/escola-viva-baniwa\/\">the Baniwa Living School<\/a><\/strong> and author of the book <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dantes.com.br\/produto\/umbigo-do-mundo\/\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Umbigo do Mundo [World\u2019s Navel]<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Dantes, 2023), from the Selvagem collection.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Francy<\/strong> gave an online talk at the LABIC opening conference, on the theme \u201c<strong>Indigenous Sciences and the World\u2019s Navel<\/strong>\". Francy shared her vision of the Living Schools movement, spoke about her work coordinating the Baniwa Living School, and also discussed the book <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Umbigo do Mundo [World\u2019s Navel]<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which she wrote based on conversations with her father, Francisco Fontes Baniwa, about the memory, mythology and traditions of the Baniwa people.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cThe first university, which holds such an important place, is our territory, where we live. So I always see the communities, the territory, and the Rio Negro itself as that first university. Why do I say this? Because it is a place that provides you with your first knowledge. Cris shared her work with the Living Schools, introduced Selvagem and screened <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=OZ92ernZsKk\"><em>Arrow 7 \u2013 The feral and the sphere<\/em><\/a> for the audience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cris\u2019s talk had a very positive impact on the audience. On that occasion, for example, an educator from an urban background, who lives in Manaus, said he did not know that the Bahserikowi Centre for Indigenous Medicine was a Living School, and stated that he now wants to get involved in the activities and become more closely involved with the Centre.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cThe Living School is not the school building. For us, the riverbank is a classroom, the shade under a tree is a classroom, when we are dreaming it is a classroom space \u2013 because dreams also convey knowledge.
